Maintain your skills, certifications and experience

For licensed Collaborators with permission for this task. Check the selected organisation; feature availability and record access still apply.

What you will achieve

Keep your personal skills, credentials and experience useful and current, with deliberate sharing choices and clear supporting evidence.

Before you start

Open your own profile. Gather accurate qualification names, issuers, dates and experience details. Decide which information your organisation needs and avoid publishing unnecessary certificate numbers or personal documents.

Personal certifications are different from credentials held by the organisation. Adding one to your profile does not make the whole organisation certified.

Maintain skills

  1. Open your profile's Skills workspace.
  2. Review existing entries before choosing Add Skill.
  3. Select the correct skill from the offered catalogue and complete the assessment details presented.
  4. Save and check that the skill appears in the correct category.
  5. Use the supported edit control when your experience or assessment changes. Keep the claim proportionate to evidence, not merely aspiration.

Record a certification or professional membership

Open the certifications area and use the add action. Search the catalogue before creating a custom definition. Check both the title and issuer so that similarly named qualifications are not confused.

Complete the offered credential details and dates. Review Share certification with organisation or the corresponding membership control before saving. Link relevant skills if useful and supported.

Reopen the entry and check its dates, identity and sharing choice. A custom catalogue entry or self-recorded credential is not independent verification by its issuer.

Record experience

In Experience, add the relevant company or employer, searching existing records before creating a new one. Enter the role or project title, dates and useful context, then save.

Review any draft experience before confirming it. Confirm only if it accurately represents your work; dismiss an incorrect draft rather than accepting it for completeness.

Check it worked

Each entry is under your own profile, with the correct definition, dates and intended sharing. Check that you have not duplicated a qualification or mistaken a professional membership for a certification.

If something goes wrong

Problem Next action
The qualification is absent from search Check alternative names and issuer before using a custom entry
A draft experience is inaccurate Edit where supported or dismiss it
You cannot edit another person's entry Ask them or an authorised administrator; do not use their account
A credential is expired Record the true dates and update it only with renewal evidence

Human judgement matters

Skills and qualifications influence trust and staffing decisions. Distinguish self-assessment, recorded evidence and verified certification.
