For licensed Collaborators with permission for this task. Check the selected organisation; feature availability and record access still apply.
What you will achieve
Choose your email and in-app notification preferences, manage browser notifications and remove a registered notification device you no longer use.
Before you start
Open your own profile, not another person's. Decide which devices are appropriate for work notifications, especially if a computer is shared or its lock screen is visible to others.
This guide covers the working Notification Preferences controls. Other panels on the settings page should not be assumed to provide a functioning security or personal-data export workflow.
Set your preferences
- Open your profile's Settings and find Notification Preferences.
- Wait for the saved preferences to load.
- Set Email notifications and In-app notifications to your preferred values.
- Select Save notification preferences and wait for the result.
- Reload the page and check the saved choices are retained.
Turning off a notification channel is not completing the work that would have generated a notification. Continue to review your assigned tasks and requests through their normal workspaces.
Manage this browser
In Browser notifications, use Enable on this computer when available. Review the browser's permission prompt and allow notifications only on an appropriate device.
If notifications are blocked, the page directs you to allow them in the browser's site settings and reload. If support is unavailable, do not keep requesting permission; the browser or server configuration may not support the feature.
Use Disable on this computer to stop the current browser subscription. Under Registered computers and browsers, inspect the device label and registration details before selecting Remove for an old device.
Check it worked
Saved preferences survive reload and the browser/device list reflects the change. Verify delivery with an ordinary authorised notification when practical. A permission prompt alone does not prove a notification was delivered.
In the notification centre, marking a notification read changes its read state. It does not approve a request, complete a task or acknowledge a policy.
If something goes wrong
| Problem | Next action |
|---|---|
| Browser says notifications are blocked | Review the site's browser permission and reload |
| Device name is unfamiliar | Investigate before removing the wrong subscription |
| Preferences do not persist | Report the save error and avoid assuming they changed |
| Notifications stop but work remains due | Open the assigned-work surface directly |
Human judgement matters
Removing a notification device is not signing that device out or revoking an API token. Treat a suspected compromised account as a separate security issue.
What next?
For the wider context, see Use collaboration and personal tools. Review your notification centre and actual task queues, and remove obsolete device subscriptions when changing computers.
