For Organisation Administrators with authority for this task. Check the selected organisation before making a change.
What you will achieve
Choose a starting approach, review suggested records and create a useful draft starting set. You can also skip setup or save the deeper interview for later.
Before you start
Check the selected organisation. Have a basic understanding of its activities, systems, suppliers and priorities. Use information you are authorised to provide; recommendations do not require confidential customer data to be useful.
Allow time to review what will be created. A suggested policy, framework or supplier is not an approved organisational position.
Choose your route
- On the setup welcome screen, choose Quick setup for a priorities-led starting set or Deep setup for a more detailed interview.
- In Quick setup, select the priorities that matter now and choose Set this up to review the proposed set.
- In Deep setup, work through the organisation's sector, size, data subjects, systems, suppliers, frameworks and challenges. Correct suggestions that do not describe your organisation.
- Use Save and finish later if you need input from colleagues. Allow the save to finish before leaving.
- If no starting set is wanted, use Skip for now, take me to my dashboard. Skipping is not a claim that governance setup is complete.
Review before creating records
Read the grouped recommendations. Untick items you do not need and review any offered owner-team selections. If recommendations refresh, review and confirm the refreshed set; do not assume an earlier preview is still authoritative.
Use the confirmation control only when the displayed set is right. Wait for the run summary, then review the created groups. The setup surface identifies these records as drafts. Open important items individually and add accountable owners, real evidence and your organisation's wording before relying on them.
Check it worked
The run summary identifies the created starting points and the dashboard opens in the correct organisation. Spot-check several records against your selections. For a saved Deep setup, return to the setup journey and check your answers have been retained before continuing.
If something goes wrong
| Problem | Next action |
|---|---|
| Recommendations are irrelevant | Change the answers or exclude those records before confirmation |
| The preview changes while reviewing | Reconfirm the current version, not the previous list |
| The run remains processing or partially completes | Inspect the existing summary and records before retrying; report the run reference |
| You skipped setup | Use the available setup entry point when ready; ask for help if it is not offered |
Human judgement matters
Generated starter content is scaffolding for your team's work. It does not establish compliance, replace a risk assessment or approve a policy.
What next?
For the wider context, see Configure features, review standards and workflows. Review the draft records with their owners, configure required features and invite the people who will maintain them.
