What you'll achieve
You will accept a genuine invitation, sign in safely and open the organisation where your assigned action lives.
Who this is for
Anyone invited to take part in this task as an Organisation Participant. You do not need access to the rest of the platform. If you cannot see the request, check the organisation name and ask the person who invited you for help.
Before you start
Check that you have:
- The newest invitation email from the expected organisation.
- Your own Backstory sign-in method.
- The name of the person who invited you.
1. Check the invitation
Confirm the organisation, recipient address and reason match what you expected. If they do not, stop and contact the inviter through a known route.
2. Use the newest invitation
Open the newest invitation email and follow its action. Do not forward the link or paste it into a support message.
3. Sign in as yourself
Use your own identity. Never accept an invitation while signed in as someone else or share an account to complete an action.
4. Choose the organisation
If Backstory asks you to select an organisation, choose the one named in the invitation. Check the organisation name again before opening the assigned policy or asset.
Check it worked
- The organisation appears in your organisation selector.
- Your assigned policy or asset action opens.
- You did not receive access to unrelated administration.
If something goes wrong

| The link is expired | Ask the Organisation Administrator to resend it; use only the newest email. |
| The organisation is unfamiliar | Do not accept. Verify with the inviter. |
| You can sign in but see no task | Check the organisation context, then ask the assigner to confirm the assignment. |
A quick reminder
An invitation link is a security token. Keep it private and never give anyone your password or sign-in code.
