Analyse a policy and create an advisory report

What you'll achieve

You'll run Quick Analysis or request an Advisory Report for a selected policy version, then review the findings before using them to improve the policy.

Who this is for

This guide is for an Organisation Collaborator with the permission or assigned action described below. If the navigation or action is missing, check the selected organisation, effective account level, feature state and role before assuming the product is unavailable.

Before you start

Check that you have:

  • A policy version with saved content.
  • Permission to analyse it and organisation AI enabled for the chosen route.
  • Available platform credits or a configured organisation provider, as applicable.

1. Select the policy version

Open the policy and Policy Contents. Choose the intended version and read its status and content. Finish saving any changes before running analysis; otherwise the result may refer to different text from the draft you are editing.

2. Choose the depth

Choose Analyse to open Choose analysis depth. Select Quick Analysis for focused findings or Advisory Report for a longer report. Quick Analysis uses the general AI settings; Advisory Reports have a separate organisation AI route.

3. Run Quick Analysis

Choose Run Quick Analysis. When the operation finishes, open Analysis and read the findings with the policy version beside them. Check each finding against the source text, organisational context and relevant requirements. Record which recommendations you accept and why.

4. Request an Advisory Report

Select Advisory Report, choose Report length, review the displayed limit and choose Generate Advisory Report. The report can take several minutes. Follow its progress in Advisory Report; avoid starting another merely because the first is still running.

5. Review the result

Read the whole report, especially limitations and claims about missing or inconsistent content. Confirm that it refers to the selected version. Check quoted or referenced evidence before relying on the advice, and involve the policy owner or specialist reviewer for substantive changes.

6. Make a controlled revision

Edit an appropriate draft or create a new version. Link the review rationale to the policy's normal approval process. Generating a report does not approve or publish the policy, and its findings are not a compliance certification.

Check it worked

  • The result identifies the policy version you intended to analyse.
  • The requested operation reaches a completed state, not only queued or running.
  • Accepted recommendations are reflected in a reviewed draft.
  • Existing approval and publication responsibilities remain clear.

If something goes wrong

What you see What to do
Analyse is disabled Check that content exists and is saved, then check access and AI settings.
Advisory Report is unavailable Ask an Organisation Administrator to review the separate Advisory Report AI route and credit/provider availability.
The result appears stale Compare its policy version and content with the version you are reading.
The report is still running Check progress and the displayed failure state before starting another request.

Human judgement, security and privacy

AI analysis offers suggestions. You remain responsible for the policy's meaning, evidence and suitability. Do not add confidential material to a policy solely to give the AI more context.

What's next

Complete the policy review and, after substantive changes, decide whether a new analysis or attestation cycle is needed.
